William Powell, Distinguished Service Award Winner.

William Powell, 97, will receive America’s 2009 distinguished service award this week at the PGA Championship kicks in Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn.
Powell is a life member of th PGA. His daughter is PGA and LPGA Professional Renee Powell, the 2003 PGA First Lady of Golf and the second African-American to compete on the LPGA Tour.

Powell overcame racial barriers to become the only African-American to design, build, own and operate a golf course while pioneering diversity in the game, has been named the recipient of the 2009 PGA Distinguished Service Award.

    I didn’t know who William Powell is. Thanks. Should be reading up on golf. Can impress people with knowledge if not my game 🙂
