With no Tiger anticipation the Open started off slow, anticipation grew as Greg Norman stormed in trying to be the oldest winner of a major. Norman did buy himself a ticket to the Masters next year with his third place tie.

Too hot to golf today, we’re gong to steam up some clams, shrimp and scallops, throw some corn on the grill and enjoy the afternoon in the company of friends.

A case I’ve been following where a landowner wanted to sell his land to a group of Muslims who wanted to build a center on it, and the building permit was denied by the town. This went on for months prior to the decision. When the decision Was rendered they cited traffic as one of the main concerns. It is suspected it is discrimination. The landowner filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the town yesterday, so this will be interesting to watch.

The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Baltimore, charges that the town conspired to deny the members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community their constitutional right to practice their religion by denying land-use permits, changing town policy and enacting new laws to keep out the sect.

David Moxley is the owner of the land and he calls the locals bigots. I can’t disagree.

We live in this county, not in the town of Walkersville some distance away as a matter of fact. My wife, an attorney, is quite interested in following this case.

Given the county commissioner’s try at making English the official language of the county and failing twice, and the sheriffs new initiative partnering with the FBI in gathering the criminal element population of illegal immigrants which includes, according to some, a sanctioned racial profiling of county citizens, it has given us something to think about, and may give credence to the accusation. Especially if you read the commentary in the local paper on any of these issues.
